Do you feel as though you live your life with purpose? If so, what is the driving force for that purpose?
Yes absolutely! My purpose truly fuels my motivation to do more and be more and I honestly feel the driving force behind it all is the divinity of love… like truly living a life that spreads, that promotes, that fosters, and embraces the most powerful thing I feel like we can offer and that's love.
Why is it so difficult for black American men in this culture to be themselves, their essential selves, and remain who they truly are?
In today’s society as a black man we have been conditioned to think that who we truly are is not accepted from our fashion to our hair on down to the color of our skin, so you are forced to try to fit a certain image to quote unquote get a head or be somebody in today’s America which still has yesterday’s views and attitudes as it pertains to the black man.
At what point does a boy become a man?
A boy truly becomes a man when he himself becomes emotionally aware and mature. The transition from a boy to a man takes place when an individual comes to the realization that everything that happens and fails to happen in his life rests squarely upon his shoulders and he has the power to command his life how he sees fit. not his surroundings, not his conditions, not any forces outside of his inner self.
What is something that people misunderstand about you?
Some people have labeled me as an overachiever or “try hard” when truly my goals just impregnated my mind with a vision that gave birth to this life that i'm now living. I align myself with what success looks like to me and I followed through because I promised myself too.
What in life is beautiful to you?
One of the most beautiful things in life to me is a compassionate individual, these are the difference makers in our world today.. These people through their selflessness inspire through their actions and those very actions change lives which in turn changes us as people in whole, compassion is a birth child of love and love is the most powerful thing we can possess.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from my situation I am a Idabel native raised by one of the sweetest and most compassionate people god ever created my grandmother Annie Scott(Nanu) who always believed in me and just knowing I had at least one other person that believed in me other than myself propelled me to put my best foot forward even tho resources were limited because of my location. She taught me to look further then my eyes can see and to visualize it in my mind and follow it with action to manifest it into my life and that alone inspired me to not reach for the clouds but to head for the stars.
Who is the most impressional man in your life?
This is a tough one because my mentors are all phenomenal in their on right but one of the most impressional men in my current life is Mr. Marc Flemon he has fostered an atmosphere around him that breeds a higher level of being intentional about creating and providing for the culture, he gives chairs to allow you to sit at his table and break bread while on his own personal mission to create generational wealth for his family who depends on him. Marc continues to exemplify that we are greater than any situation or condition we were born into and if you are a dreamer your dreams can come true if you operate with a mindset that is conducive of making your vision a reality.
For future generations of men reading this: is there any wisdom you’d want to pass on to them? What would you want them to know? Do you follow this advice yourself?
I would tell them to take it all in and formulate their own understanding of the world and their own life and once they reach this level of understanding the power that is granted to them through knowing exactly who they are, utilize it to become what they want to be.
